The Low-to-Low Putting Track

Control Your Rise Angle for Pure, Skim-Free Roll

Sticks 1 Config Together Focus Putting

Drill Objective

Eliminate bouncing, inconsistent putts by mastering your putter's height through impact. This drill uses a pathpal unit to angle an alignment stick just above the ball, creating a physical ceiling. By keeping your putter head underneath the stick through impact, you prevent the blade from ascending too quickly or chopping down, ensuring a smooth, low-to-the-ground stroke.

Practice Plan

Set it up. Run the drill. Know what to feel.

Use the steps below to build the same station every time, then make focused reps with clear feedback.

Set Up

  1. Place a single pathpal unit on the green just past your target area.
  2. Insert an alignment stick into the unit so it angles upward, extending back toward your ball.
  3. Position your golf ball so that the alignment stick hovers just past it, resting a fraction of an inch above the height of the ball.

Run The Drill

  1. Line up your putter to the ball, adjusting your setup so your forward stroke will travel beneath the hovering alignment stick.
  2. Execute your putting stroke, focusing on keeping the putter head completely underneath the alignment stick all the way through impact.
  3. Ensure the clubhead doesn't rise up to strike the stick or dip down to scuff the turf.
  4. Repeat the drill to build the sensation of a smooth, low-to-low stroke that delivers a perfect end-over-end roll.
